Benjamin Keach had the unfortunate privileged, as many do, of being born on February 29th 1640. As such he was born on a leap year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar and a leap year starting on Wednesday of the Julian calendar. In the Julian calendar each year contained 12 months and there were an average of 365.25 days in a year. This was achieved by having three years containing 365 days and one year containing 366 days. Keach was born into this calendar as the Gregorian calendar was not used in Britain and her colonies until 1752 when 2 September was followed by 14 September and New Year’s Day was changed from 25 March to 1 January.
So Happy Birthday Benjamin Keach born 378 years ago!
